Christina is amazing, inventive, and smart. There were some science fiction elements, but I would classify this more as an adventure read. Music is a key element to the story, which added a fun aspect. Christina seeks out adventure, longing to move beyond her over protected environment. Set in a vaguely familiar though unspecified country, mustache-twirling villain, brutalized orphans, and a spate of inventions that feel more magical than scientific. 10-year-old sheltered female protagonist goes on an adventure of discovery and mild to moderate peril against the wishes of her scientist father.
